Anagramatic Names

An anagram is a word or phrase made by changing the order of the letters of another word or phrase. Changing the order that letters appear can dramatically change the meaning of what is written.

Anagrams are possible with many words and phrases - and sometimes also with our own names.

Our names are sometimes said to be the words we most like to hear. How different might our names seem if we were deliberately dyslexic and rearranged the letters? A ROSE might still smell as sweet by any other name - but it might not sound as nice (as a SORE).

Have you ever rearranged the letters or spacing in your name(s) to create new words or meanings – that make sense?

For example, the letters in OREN can be reversed to form NERO; DEB can be reversed to BED; and PAM reversed to MAP. More often, though, simply reversing the order of letters won't work; the letters have to be rearranged. Examples include: NATE to NEAT; KATE to TEAK; and SHARM to HARMS or MARSH.

Sometimes, it's not even necessary to rearrange the order of letters to create new meanings. Simply add some punctuation or spacing. IMPOSSIBLE? I'M POSSIBLE!

What about YOUR name?
